The processor, RAM and graphics card are all running at stock speeds, as they have been since day one, but are capable of being overclocked.

The processor is a 6th Gen i7 ‘K’ model i.e. factory unlocked and fully overclockable. Stock clock speed is 4.0GHz with a turbo mode of 4.2Ghz.

The motherboard is an MSI Z170 chipset board designed for heavy overclocking and features an ‘OC Dashboard’ (basically an extra board with physical buttons for overclocking on-the-fly), and ‘Direct OC’ software for easy overclocking.

The graphics card is a Gigabyte Radeon R9 Fury X, which has a factory-fitted all-in-one (AIO) liquid cooler. This card came highly recommended, namely thanks to its strong performance in a very small form-factor (and v. quiet too). Performance-wise, it compares to a GTX 1070 and is more than happy running games in 4k resolution.

The PC is supplied without a hard drive or operating system, ready for the buyer to install their own. However, I can install a brand new 120GB SSD for an extra £50 if required.

Collection is highly preferred, but I may be able to deliver to you depending upon your geographic location.

For Sale – RX Vega 56

Hey guys,

As I said in a previous post I’m desktop top. I’ve sold all the parts I wanted to sell and the only thing left I have right now is my RX Vega 56 card (Sapphire).

The card has been used once, when I received it, in order to make sure it was running fine. I ordered the card in order to pair it with a 1440p monitor, that I intended to purchase, but this won’t happen since I have other things to focus on at the moment (i.e. the uni).

The card has been bought in September at scan.co.uk and it is obviously still under warranty. It comes with the original receipt, package and all the goods (leaflets etc). This is basically a brand new Vega 56.

I’d rather have someone collect the card (I live in Brighton), I don’t want to risk the card to be damaged during the shipment.

Windows 10 SDK Preview Build 17035 now available

Today, we released a new Windows 10 Preview Build of the SDK to be used in conjunction with Windows 10 Insider Preview (Build 17035 or greater). The Preview SDK Build 17035 contains bug fixes and under development changes to the API surface area.
The Preview SDK can be downloaded from developer section on Windows Insider.
For feedback and updates to the known issues, please see the developer forum. For new developer feature requests, head over to our Windows Platform UserVoice.
Things to note:
This build works in conjunction with previously released SDKs and Visual Studio 2017. You can install this SDK and still also continue to submit your apps that target Windows 10 Creators build or earlier to the store.
The Windows SDK will now formally only be supported by Visual Studio 2017 and greater. You can download the Visual Studio 2017 here.
Known Issues:
Installation on an operating system that is not a Windows 10 Insider Preview  build is not supported and may fail.
What’s New:
C++/WinRT Now Available:
The C++/WinRT headers and cppwinrt compiler (cppwinrt.exe) are now included in the Windows SDK. The compiler comes in handy if you need to consume a third-party WinRT component or if you need to author your own WinRT components with C++/WinRT. The easiest way to get working with it after installing the Windows Insider Preview SDK is to start the Visual Studio Developer Command Prompt and run the compiler in that environment. Authoring support is currently experimental and subject to change. Stay tuned as we will publish more detailed instructions on how to use the compiler in the coming week. Breaking Changes
New MIDL key words. 
As a part of the “modernizing IDL” effort, several new keywords are added to the midlrt tool. These new keywords will cause build breaks if they are encountered in IDL files.
The new keywords are:
event
set
get
partial
unsealed
overridable
protected
importwinmd
If any of these keywords are used as an identifier, it will generate a build failure indicating a syntax error.
The error will be similar to:

Basically the top of the CPU is removed – the “heat spreader” on the top of the CPU. The Ivybridge processor range of which my CPU is a member of, Intel switched from soldering it on to sticking it on with crap thermal compound.
You remove the top, replace the compound with something better and achieve lower temperature of the CPU by increasing the efficiency of the thermal transfer to your CPU cooler

Lapping is basically hand finishing the CPU heat spreader using various grades of sandpaper and a very flat surface (piece of glass for example). This exposes the copper interior of the heat spreader and removes any convex/concave shape from it to give a better contact with your CPU cooler.

This is all to aid in cooling the CPU and reversing the crap job Intel did with the Ivybridge and onwards.

The CPU works exactly the same as normal just runs cooler – up to around 10 degrees in some cases – the heat spreader is initially held in by the CPU mounting mechanism on the motherboard and the paste applied rather than glued on like it was from factory
