For Sale – iMac 5k 27″ Late 2015 – 3.3GHz i5, 32GB RAM, 256GB SSD, Radeon R9 M395

Due to moving to a new MacBook Pro, my iMac is up for sale as it’s no longer used.

Model is a Late 2015, maxed out with 32GB RAM. Specs are per the title but anyone wanting further clarification can PM for serial number (I think you can look up specs by serial number).

Picture shows macOS Mojave Beta installed but I have freshly installed the latest High Sierra as I did not want to leave my Developer Account copy of Mojave on the machine. It’s ready to go and set up as it is out the box.

Original box included, as well as outer cardboard box. Therefore posting is possible if buyer can help arrange due to value, but collection is highly preferred. Obviously posting will attract additional charges.

Further pictures of actual machine to be posted shortly. Condition is excellent, I can’t see any major marks on it except for a small tiny nick on the bottom edge that is barely noticeable. But once it’s had a thorough clean I will examine closely for anything that might be there that I may have missed.

Thanks

For Sale – Logitech DiNovo Edge Keyboard and Logitech Performance MX mouse

As per the title, I am selling my Logitech DiNovo Keyboard and Performance MX Mouse

The Keyboard is boxed with all original accessories (charging dock, power supply and Logitech unifiying USB dongle).

It works exactly as exptected and the keyboard itself is in great condition for a device which has been used pretty much daily for a few years. The only thing of notre is that the letters on a few keys has either faded partly or completely. The E, L and Left Shift key are partly worn and the A and S key are almost completley gone (as shown in pjhotos). I was intending to get some replacement trasnfers for these but havent gotten around to it yet and they should only cost a few pounds. This doesnt effect performance at all of course but it has to be mentioned as it may well be an issue for some if not all. Connects via the included gone or directly via #bluetooth.

Im also including my Logitefch Performance MX mouse, this just comes as its and will be included in the box for the keyboard. Again, this has been used daily and due it its nature also has signs of wear but again works perfectly. This runs on a single AA rechargeable battery (not included) and can charge directly in the mouse via a micro USB cable which I will include in the box but will not be the original one. This connects with the included Unifying dongle that comes with the keyboard.

Both the mouse and keyboard can be configured using the Logitech Setpoint software which is easily downloaded from the Logitech site which allowes you to configure a lot of the customisable buttons on both devices.

Battery life is great on both devices and they both go roughly a month between charges with average usage. The mouse can be used whilst charging or ytou can pop in another battery and charge at a later date. The keyboard needs to be in it’sdock to charge.

Both have been fully tested and are working exactly as epected prior to this listing

Any questions pelase ask and feel free to make an offer

Wanted – Good spec and condition Chromebook

Thanks buddy. crazy how time is flying so not long to go now. She’s given me the go ahead to sell her mint laptop as well which I’m about to advertise here which still has 1.5yr on-site warranty.

The Chromebook is a 16GB Internal I believe. It’s a beautiful machine. I can do it for £230 delivered and that is mainly because it’s in brand new condition. I cannot see a single hairline scratch on it or thumbprint. My wife and eye have serious OCD when it comes to keeping our tech in the best condition. Me being in IT, I’m always using Antec spray to clean my devices.

I appreciate the price may be out of your budget but just wanted to see if anyone would want it at this price. I’ll upload some pics for you now and any marks that come up, please ignore as it’s most likely my shadows, lol

Bringing Device Support to Windows Server Containers

When we introduced containers to Windows with the release of Windows Server 2016, our primary goal was to support traditional server-oriented applications and workloads. As time has gone on, we’ve heard feedback from our users about how certain workloads need access to peripheral devices—a problem when you try to wrap those workloads in a container. We’re introducing support for select host device access from Windows Server containers, beginning in Insider Build 17735 (see table below).

We’ve contributed these changes back to the Open Containers Initiative (OCI) specification for Windows. We will be submitting changes to Docker to enable this functionality soon. Watch the video below for a simple example of this work in action (hint: maximize the video).

What’s Happening

To provide a simple demonstration of the workflow, we have a simple client application that listens on a COM port and reports incoming integer values (powershell console on the right). We did not have any devices on hand to speak over physical COM, so we ran the application inside of a VM and assigned the VM’s virtual COM port to the container. To mimic a COM device, an application was created to generate random integer values and send it over a named pipe to the VM’s virtual COM port (this is the powershell console on the left).

As we see in the video at the beginning, if we do not assign COM ports to our container, when the application runs in the container and tries to open a handle to the COM port, it fails with an IOException (because as far as the container knew, the COM port didn’t exist!). On our second run of the container, we assign the COM port to the container and the application successfully gets and prints out the incoming random ints generated by our app running on the host.

How It Works

Let’s look at how it will work in Docker. From a shell, a user will type:

docker run --device="/"

For example, if you wanted to pass a COM port to your container:

docker run --device="class/86E0D1E0-8089-11D0-9CE4-08003E301F73" mcr.microsoft.com/windowsservercore-insider:latest

The value we’re passing to the device argument is simple: it looks for an IdType and an Id. For this coming release of Windows , we only support an IdType of “class”. For Id, this is  a device interface class GUID. The values are delimited by a slash, “/”.  Whereas  in Linux a user assigns individual devices by specifying a file path in the “/dev/” namespace, in Windows we’re adding support for a user to specify an interface class, and all devices which identify as implementing this class   will be plumbed into the container.

If a user wants to specify multiple classes to assign to a container:

docker run --device="class/86E0D1E0-8089-11D0-9CE4-08003E301F73" --device="class/DCDE6AF9-6610-4285-828F-CAAF78C424CC" --device="…" mcr.microsoft.com/windowsservercore-insider:latest

What are the Limitations?

Process isolation only: We only support passing devices to containers running in process isolation; Hyper-V isolation is not supported, nor do we support host device access for Linux Containers on Windows (LCOW).

We support a distinct list of devices: In this release, we targeted enabling a specific set of features and a specific set of host device classes. We’re starting with simple buses. The complete list that we currently support  is  below.

Device Type Interface Class  GUID
GPIO 916EF1CB-8426-468D-A6F7-9AE8076881B3
I2C Bus A11EE3C6-8421-4202-A3E7-B91FF90188E4
COM Port 86E0D1E0-8089-11D0-9CE4-08003E301F73
SPI Bus DCDE6AF9-6610-4285-828F-CAAF78C424CC

Stay tuned for a Part 2 of this blog that explores the architectural decisions we chose to make in Windows to add this support.

What’s Next?

We’re eager to get your feedback. What specific devices are most interesting for you and what workload would you hope to accomplish with them? Are there other ways you’d like to be able to access devices in containers? Leave a comment below or feel free to tweet at me.

Cheers,

Craig Wilhite (@CraigWilhite)

For Sale – Surface Pro 4 8gb 256SSD + Keyboard Cover Boxed

Hi All

I have for sale my immaculate condition Surface Pro 4 with Keyboard and Pen.

I have owned this from new for nearly 2 years, only been my server login machine and occasional media player when away from home.

It is in perfect condition, screen has zero scratches, and case only has a blemish near the charging port and where the keyboard attaches. Its been in a full cover case for its entire life. There are a few lightbleed patches around the screen (most if not all pro’s suffer with this) and I will post pictures later when dark to show this. They are not visible in use, only on the pitch black start screen.

Its been a great laptop tablet, but hardly every get used so decided to sell on. Perfect for any student, great for note taking and drawing for college/uni!! Has great specs with the I5-6300U, 8gb ram and 256 ssd drive so will last for quite a while.

Any questions please ask

Thanks

Tim
